Feb 7, 2025

Summary

Founded by a team of forward-thinking entrepreneurs, Rabiddo is tackling one of the industry’s biggest challenges—making mining operations more efficient, environmentally conscious, and technologically advanced.

Key highlights include:

  • Innovation in Mining: Rabiddo is leveraging AI, automation, and advanced data analytics to optimize mining processes, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Sustainability at the Core: Unlike traditional mining companies, Rabiddo prioritizes environmental stewardship, ensuring that operations minimize ecological impact while maintaining profitability.
  • Overcoming Industry Challenges: The article explores how Rabiddo is addressing concerns around resource depletion, regulatory hurdles, and public perception, proving that mining and sustainability can coexist.

Rabiddo is a SaaS platform for the mining industry originally based in Iran. It aims to provide mining companies and engineering firms in Canada with an integrated software solution that streamlines their project management processes and enhances overall productivity.

Mohammad Sepahi Chavoshloo, Rabiddo’s CEO & CTO joined us for a discussion about the process of applying to Treefrog Accelerator’s Start-Up VISA program and navigating the IRCC application process to bring their business to Canada, specifically to York Region, Ontario.

Mohammad Sepahi Chavoshloo joined the Treefrog Accelerator in the summer of 2023 and has had an incredible journey since then. We hope his story will inspire readers as they go through their transitions.

Could you tell us a little bit about yourself and Rabiddo?

Mohammad Sepahi Chavoshloo: Certainly. I am the co-founder and CEO of Rabiddo. My entrepreneurial journey began five years ago when I started my first startup, Raybod Ravesh. I have expertise in web development and business analysis. I also hold degrees in industrial engineering and an MBA.

Rabiddo is a cloud-based platform for the mining industry. It simplifies project management processes, streamlines communication, and offers technical advisory services to enhance the quality of information produced during projects. We’re excited to introduce Rabiddo to the Canadian market and are passionate about bringing innovation to the mining sector.

How has the SUV program impacted the growth of your startup?

MSC: I believe that Canada’s SUV program provides an excellent opportunity for international entrepreneurs to bring their businesses to Canada. I’ve always dreamed of expanding my business outside my home country. I explored different programs in countries like the Netherlands, Estonia, and the UAE. After thorough consideration, we chose Canada’s SUV program for several reasons.

Firstly, Canada’s strategic location provides easy access to the North American market, crucial for us due to the abundance of mines and opportunities in this industry. Secondly, Canada is renowned for emphasizing innovation, making it an ideal destination for people with innovative ideas. Additionally, Canada’s diversity and multicultural environment streamline the adaptation for international entrepreneurs.

Under this program, you can obtain permanent residency, which offers long-term stability and opportunities for personal growth. Overall, it’s a solid framework to navigate.

How did you learn about the SUV program?

MSC: I first encountered the program on Twitter (X). I saw a colleague trying to enter the program, which piqued my curiosity. I searched it online, found the IRCC website, and read all the material.

What was your process for choosing an incubator/accelerator, and why did you choose Treefrog?

MSC: Choosing an incubator was a significant challenge in navigating the SUV program. Despite the abundance of information on the IRCC website, there was no platform to compare designated organizations. Finding an appropriate organization is crucial for the success of your business. A friend advised me to consider Treefrog. After an interview and reviewing the curriculum and session program, I knew my decision was correct.

In your opinion, what aspects does IRCC value in businesses, and what can help a business stand out?

MSC: IRCC looks for three main criteria: innovation, job creation for Canadians, and global competitiveness. However, other factors can influence your application. Founder credibility, including experience and skills, can impact the officer’s decision. Demonstrating financial stability through committed revenue or significant investment is crucial for early-stage startups. Also, understanding and addressing market needs is important. A clear demonstration of how your business addresses market gaps can positively affect your application.

Any recommendations on how to demonstrate what you’ve achieved so far to your peers?

MSC: Recognizing market needs is crucial. I recommend starting with a niche market – addressing a specific need rather than attempting to meet all market demands simultaneously. Understand customer behaviour to address their needs and scale over time.

Do you have any tips on approaching the Canadian market, especially if you’re not in Canada yet?

MSC: In my experience, connecting with people and organizations digitally in Canada is normal. By using emails, websites, and attending exhibitions you can gather valuable data. However, connecting with organizations from outside Canada can be challenging, which is why I’m eager to be there as soon as possible.

As you start this journey, view challenges as opportunities for growth. Remember, success lies in the journey, not just the destination.

Best of luck to everyone!
