Local economies thrive in vibrant communities. This is why Newmarket is hyper-focused on next-level community build-ing. We leverage our investments, events, and facilities to give people more reasons to get together and enjoy this town, attract more talented people to work here, and investments that create jobs and a more vibrant and resilient economy.

We’re seeing more businesses open here and many of the established businesses continue to grow. As a result, we have more jobs per capita in Newmarket than most of our peers.

This success comes through strong partnerships with local businesses–large, medium, and small including new businesses and businesses new to the Region and Canada.

We work with the business community in a variety of ways. Our Economic Development team is always available to help businesses find the space they need and make the connections in Town to be even more successful. We’ve also built partnerships with our Chamber of Commerce, hospital, York University and of course the Treefrog Accelerator, to support entrepreneurs to create and build the businesses that will help to drive our future prosperity.

Our focus on creating a great place to live, work, and raise a family has brought unique opportunities to attract more people to Newmarket. The Region’s first boutique hotel–The Postmark–will open later this year in our downtown. The Art Gallery of Ontario will open its first gallery outside Toronto at our new Mulock Park. We offer a range of award-winning festivals and events throughout the year, like our summer music series and winter Ice Lounge, that give people from near and far more reasons to spend their time and money in Newmarket. In the future, we’ll focus even more on attracting and nurturing creators and the creative economy.

I love meeting the entrepreneurs who have come through the Accelerator and helping them to make connections. I can’t help but be inspired by them. They make me think about ways to make our community even better.
